Sara Firestone, LMFT

About Me

Hi, and welcome—I’m glad you’re here.

I’m Sara a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist specializing in perinatal mental health, anxiety, and trauma processing. I have my Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a minor in Applied Developmental Psychology from UCLA. Before becoming a therapist, I worked in early childhood education and my background in child development and education continues to inform my work, especially when supporting individuals and families during major life transitions.

I specialize in working with women during pregnancy and postpartum, and I’m passionate about helping new parents navigate the emotional transition to parenthood. As a certified Perinatal Mental Health Provider (PMH-C) through Postpartum Support International, I have advanced training in supporting individuals experiencing perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, identity shifts, birth trauma, and relationship challenges that are common at this stage of life.

I also have extensive experience treating anxiety disorders—including OCD, social anxiety, and specific phobias—using evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). For clients navigating trauma, I offer EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to help process and heal from difficult experiences.

I utilize a psychodynamic and attachment focused lens when working with clients to develop a deeper understanding of why they feel the way they do and offer new strategies for better coping within their lives today. I aim to meet every client where they are at and work to integrate evidenced base therapeutic approaches as appropriate for each person and family.

My approach is warm, compassionate, and non-judgmental, and I enjoy working collaboratively with my clients to help them reach their goals. I aim to create a space where you feel supported, empowered, and truly seen.

If you’re ready to take the next step toward healing or just curious about how therapy might support you, please reach out.
